Hue has no accounts, no advertising, and never asks for or stores anything that identifies you.
We do collect a small amount of anonymous data for two purposes: to understand which features people enjoy, and to power the “Today” feature, which shows the best score anyone reached on today’s color. None of it is ever tied to your name, email, device identifiers, or any personal information.
The following is stored locally on your phone and is not tied to your identity:

Hue’s “Today” feature lets you see the best score anyone reached on the same color you played that day. To make this work, when you finish a color the app sends to a hosted database only:
That random ID is a meaningless string of characters. It exists only so that one device doesn’t log the same color twice — it is never shown, never linked to your name or account (there is no account), and never used to identify or track you. What comes back is an aggregate — the best score and how many people played that color — so no individual player’s scores are visible to anyone, including us.
This is the only feature that sends anything about your gameplay to a server. If you are offline, it simply falls back to showing your own scores — you never lose the game.
Each day Hue downloads a curated color palette from the same hosted database. This is a one-way download of public content — it sends nothing about you.
We use PostHog, a privacy-friendly analytics service hosted in the European Union, to understand how people use Hue in aggregate. The events we record are limited to actions like:
These events do not contain your name, email, phone number, IP address, photos, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or any other personally identifying information. PostHog assigns each install an anonymous, random ID that cannot be linked back to you.
We use this anonymous data only to improve Hue. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for tracking across other apps or websites.
Hue is suitable for all ages. The only data it collects is anonymous and cannot identify anyone — no personal information from children (or adults) is gathered, used, or shared.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an optional feature that requires data — the change will be reflected on this page and the “Last updated” date above will be revised.
